Cathalyn Washington

How wonderful is it to know that there is somebody out there that will listen to you? My approach to therapy comes from a person-centered approach. You are the expert of your story and narrative. When considering approaches, I feel that Cognitive behavioral therapy is a good modality to aid with certain conditions. I also have experience with utilizing trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapy that helps children to create their own narrative if they may have experienced a distressing event in their lives.

I have always considered myself to be a person-centered individual. You are the creator and driver of your narrative. I am here to help you shape that narrative into something that you are comfortable with.

I am a current graduate student in DePaul University’s master’s program. I also have a little over three years’ experience in crisis and trauma work. I’ve worked on a crisis hotline that helped individuals with trauma, abuse, anxiety, depression, life stressors, and more. I am currently obtaining a master’s in education from DePaul University.

I believe that I can help you by providing a space where you feel that you are able to properly express yourself, or even learn to express yourself. Dealing with mental health struggles is not easy. I have struggled with Major Depressive Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Therapy was what helped me to become the person that is presenting to you today. However, we are more than our diagnoses. I am a book lover and animal lover. I am truly excited that you are here because I am ready to help you with your journey.
