Getting to know Stacy
I believe that every person deserves to feel heard, believed, and taken seriously.
I am especially interested in working with children because they do not always have the words to explain what they are feeling or what they need. Sometimes emotions appear through behavior, play, withdrawal, frustration, worry, or difficulty adjusting to change. My goal is to create a space where children can express themselves in ways that feel natural to them while developing skills that support their emotional well-being.
I want my clients to know that their experiences matter. No two people experience life in exactly the same way, and you should not have to prove that your feelings are valid before receiving support. I will meet you with curiosity rather than judgment, listen carefully to what you are telling me, and advocate alongside you throughout the therapy process.

Who I Help
I am particularly excited to work with children and families. I want children to have a place where they can be themselves without feeling pressured to explain everything perfectly or respond in the way adults expect.
I may be a good fit for children who need support with:
- Understanding and expressing emotions
- Managing worries, frustration, or overwhelming feelings
- Adjusting to changes at home, school, or within the family
- Developing confidence and a stronger sense of self
- Communicating their needs
- Strengthening coping and problem-solving skills
- Feeling misunderstood, dismissed, or unheard
- Processing difficult or confusing experiences
When appropriate, I also work collaboratively with parents and caregivers. Children exist within families, schools, communities, and larger systems, so supporting a child may include helping the adults around them better understand what the child is communicating and what they may need.
My Approach
My approach is warm, strengths-based, and responsive to the individual. I am especially interested in play therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy, commonly called CBT.
Play gives children another language for communicating. Through play and creative expression, children may be able to explore feelings, relationships, worries, and experiences that are difficult to explain directly. Play-based sessions can also create opportunities to practice emotional regulation, flexibility, problem-solving, and communication.
CBT can help clients notice connections among their thoughts, emotions, physical reactions, and behavior. Depending on the client’s age and needs, we may use those connections to understand recurring patterns and practice more supportive ways of responding.
I do not expect every client to benefit from the same strategy. I will take time to understand the person in front of me and adapt our work to their developmental needs, personality, strengths, culture, experiences, and goals.
What to Expect in Therapy with Stacy
You can expect a welcoming and nonjudgmental space where you or your child can become comfortable at your own pace.
I do not believe that there is one correct way to experience life. Two people can move through similar circumstances and be affected very differently. I want to understand what an experience has meant to you rather than assuming that I already know.
In our sessions, I may use conversation, play, creative activities, skill-building, and age-appropriate psychoeducation. We may work on identifying emotions, understanding connections between thoughts and behavior, practicing coping strategies, solving problems, or finding new ways to communicate needs.
I also want therapy to feel collaborative. I will bring curiosity, honesty, and encouragement into our work, but I will not expect you to follow a predetermined path. We will work together to understand what is happening and determine what support may be most helpful.
Most importantly, I want my clients to know that I will take them seriously. I understand how isolating it can feel when other people do not believe your experience, and I am committed to helping clients feel seen, supported, and empowered to use their voices.
Why I Became a Therapist
My desire to become a social worker and therapist grew from an experience that changed my life.
When I was younger, I developed intracranial hypertension, a neurological condition involving increased pressure around the brain. I experienced serious symptoms, including vision loss and paralysis, but before I received the correct diagnosis, my symptoms were misunderstood and I was placed in psychiatric care.
During that experience, a social worker took the time to sit with me. She talked with me, helped me care for my hair, and treated me like a person rather than a problem that needed to be explained away. Most importantly, she listened closely enough to recognize that I needed further medical evaluation. Her advocacy helped me receive the testing, diagnosis, and treatment I needed.
I know what it feels like not to be believed. I also know how powerful it can be when one person slows down, pays attention, and decides that your experience matters.
That social worker’s compassion changed the direction of my life. She helped me during a time when I felt frightened, vulnerable, and misunderstood, and she showed me the kind of professional I wanted to become. I am pursuing this work because I want to offer others the same sense of care, dignity, and advocacy that she offered me.
The events in our lives can shape us, but they do not have to determine the rest of our story. I hope to help clients recognize their strengths, make meaning from what they have experienced, and discover what they want their next chapter to become.
Outside the Office
Outside of therapy and school, I enjoy watching television, creating memes, and spending time with my friends and family.
