Therapist, Registered Yoga Teacher
Maya Angelou once said, “If you don’t like something change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude. If you’re always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be." My approach to therapy is helping clients realize their own strengths and capabilities. Oftentimes, we find ourselves in difficult moments in our lives and it appears that we don’t see a way out. I believe that if we choose to dig deep enough that we will find what it is that we need to help ourselves through.

The treatment modalities that I typically utilize during therapy services is Cognitive behavioral therapy that is used to treat common mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, and substance use. I also utilize Dialectical behavioral therapy to help address mood disorders such as major depressive disorder and bipolar disorder. I utilize Solution-focused brief therapy that helps clients focus on solutions rather than the current problem. Lastly, I utilize yoga therapy to help improve overall mental health and physical health.

I am a person who thrives on knowledge and is always open to be a resource to others. As a clinician, I understand how important it is to help clients understand what they are going through and identifying resources available that can further support them and their needs.

I have been practicing in the mental health field for a little over five years. I recently graduated from Lewis University with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have practiced in both outpatient and residential treatment settings. I have experience working with clients with co- occurring disorders, developmental disabilities and those that are considered high risk, adolescents from 12-17, adults, families, and the incarcerated population. I have a master’s in criminal justice, a master’s in clinical & mental health counseling, and I am a registered yoga teacher.

I believe that you connect with others through your experiences in life. I can help clients navigate through their most difficult moments in their life and realizing their potential through their past experiences that they have overcome.

As someone who struggles with anxiety and depression and who continues to learn how to navigate through life stressors, I had to overcome many difficult moments in my life to ensure that I am truly living the life that I see for myself. I find that I am truly myself when I am at peace both mentally, physically, and spiritually. I truly enjoy traveling and any outdoor activities such a hiking, fishing and being near the water. I enjoy yoga, meditation and reading. I love animals and embracing the eight different personalities that have the pleasure of being around daily with my eight chihuahuas..

Is life feeling overwhelming or unbalanced? Are you struggling with setting boundaries? You are not alone. I provide services to help those struggling with life transitions, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, grief, and loss. I believe a healthy balance is achievable through connection and processing underlying emotions. I believe in the client’s right to guide their own therapy experience while being provided the appropriate tools and interventions to reach goals. I am a telehealth therapist and take time to get to know each client to understand their story, then apply the most relevant technique along with comprehensive intervention as needed.

I consistently use a person-centered approach to my practice to treat symptoms of anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder. I also utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to treat various issues stemming from grief and loss and difficult life transitions. Therapy facilitates a growth process for individuals that cannot be accessed by themselves, and I aspire to help people achieve these goals. Understanding and empathizing with the client’s internal world is necessary for the client’s growth. I am here to help guide you along this journey.

I recently graduated from DePaul University with a Master of Education in clinical mental health counseling. I have been practicing for one year, and currently see individual clients as young as 14, and adults of all age groups. I have a bachelor’s degree in clinical psychology from the University of Central Florida, and a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from DePaul University. My personal belief is that there is always a positive solution we can reach together for your wellbeing.

It wasn’t until my own therapy experience that I truly saw the benefits of mental health treatment. Psychology has always been an interest of mine, but I found my passion for therapy through my own journey. Beyond therapy, I enjoy practicing yoga, reading thriller novels, and spending time with my dog, Katy.

Life gets complicated, and sometimes, even if it’s hard to admit, we might need a little help from others. Well, you have come to the right place. We find ourselves in many different places as we navigate through life; family issues, relationships, education, transitions, and managing daily responsibilities are just some of the many areas or our life that need attending to. By meeting every client where they are at, I strive to create a safe environment where we can build a trusting relationship and work together to define goals and interventions that work for you!

I have experience working in the counseling center at the University of St. Francis, where I worked primarily with the student population to manage struggles such as depression, anxiety, life transitions, and relationship conflicts. I have had the privilege of spending time in a private practice setting, where I have worked with a variety of individuals from the age of seven and up to help treat mental health and behavioral concerns.

Additionally, I have experience working with the Hoffman Estates Soccer Club and the track team at North Park University to assist with performance related concerns such as performance anxiety, communication skills, motivation, and teamwork. I often incorporate visualization and sensory exercises to attune athlete’s minds with their bodies, which allows them to build every aspect of their performance.

I utilize a Cognitive Behavior approach, teaching clients to understand how their thoughts and behaviors co-exist; working to make small improvements by re-framing perspectives and changing undesired behavioral patterns. I also work from a mindfulness perspective, teaching clients to work towards being present, and achieving comfort with mind and body awareness, which aids in attention and anxiety related concerns. I love to get creative and develop unique ways to address any concern based on the needs of each individual Client. Additionally, I help patients to understand their strengths and successes to build the confidence to move forward.
